The announcement was made at the Cooperative’s Annual General Meeting and National Convention.
The awards, now in their eighth year, are presented to Dairy Farmers suppliers on the basis of a number of quality indicators, including protein and milk butter fat averages.
Dairy Farmers Milk Cooperative Chairman, Ian Zandstra, said the awards were extra recognition for those Dairy Farmers’ suppliers considered to be the ‘cream of the crop’.
“As a farmer-owned cooperative, we regularly acknowledge the efforts of our suppliers,” Mr Zandstra said.
“In addition to the monthly quality incentives we pay, Dairy Farmers recently awarded a generous annual bonus to one-third of our suppliers who surpassed the already-high standards we set in terms of milk quality.
“These Regional Milk Quality Awards are the ultimate accolade for our suppliers. A lot of prestige is attached to these awards and it’s a great way for Dairy Farmers to publicly pay tribute to our suppliers, who have helped the Cooperative cement its reputation as the nation’s leading Australian-owned branded dairy business.”
Alwyn and Jeanette Vollmer and sons Tony and David of Woodville in the New South Wales Hunter Valley region received the overall prize.
